Thursday, November 25th (THANKSGIVING)

WOW!! Look how they changed just from yesterday. Humus is on the left and topsoil is on the right. Can you see the root systems? Which soils can you see roots in? Which soils do not have roots? If the plant has roots what does that mean? Do roots help the plant grow or keep the plants from growing? Does this picture make you think your hypothesis may be wrong?

Humus still has only one bean that sprouted and it has grown to be 10 1/2 centimeters tall now and is a nice green color. Sand has two bean that have sprouted. One plant is 6 1/2 centimeters and the other is 10 1/2 centimeters tall. The tallest is already as tall as the one plant that is growing in the humus. The only difference is it is not as green. The plants in the sand are more of a yellow green color.

Nothing has changed with the beans in the pebbles or the clay. They look the same as they did Tuesday in class. The topsoil has one bean that has grown to be 8 centimeters tall.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving. I will see you guys soon!!
